Bianco Bros set to open new cafe bar in Hartlepool's Scarborough Street - with plans also submitted for cocktail bar opposite

Applications have been submitted to Hartlepool Borough Council to open the two new sites, each featuring a cafe and bar, in Scarborough Street.

Plans have been submitted to the council planning department to convert 6 Scarborough Street from an office into a venue also serving hot food.

The plans, from Neil Bianco, of Bianco Bros, state the move would provide four full-time and 10 part-time jobs at the cafe and bar.

A heritage statement on behalf of the applicant states the site is an important building in the area.

It said the proposal to convert the office building into a cafe/bar will “preserve the front facade in its entirety” and the alternations will have “minimal impact on the appearance, character and setting” of the “important building” within the redevelopment of Scarborough Street and Church Street.

Mr Bianco has also submitted a licensing application to the council outlining the times they want to open.

It states they want to be able to open from 9am until midnight Monday to Saturday and 10am until 10pm on Sundays.

It also states they wish to sell alcohol throughout the day during the same time periods.

Mr Bianco also said in the application full steps will be taken to ensure the premises would fully comply with the licensing objectives.

A licensing application has also been submitted to the council from Nicola Burrows to convert 7 Scarborough Street, located opposite, into a cafe and cocktail bar “for no more than 100 people”.

The application states they want to be able to open from 9am until midnight Monday to Saturday and 9am until 10pm on Sundays, and sell alcohol throughout the opening hours.

Steps to be taken to uphold the licensing objectives will include full CCTV in operation, suitable staff training, no supply of alcohol to anyone intoxicated and signage to request people respect customers, staff and neighbouring properties.

The proposals will be in line with the regeneration of Church Street and Church Square, which has seen millions of pounds of investment.
