Proposals have been submitted to Hartlepool Borough Council planning department for 29 homes to further grow the housing offer at the Wynyard site.

Submitted by Wynyard Park Ltd, the outline planning application states the work would provide good quality homes in keeping with existing developments in the area.

A design and access statement on behalf of the applicant notes the site has “potential as a developable site for prestigious executive dwellings”.

A planning statement from Lichfields outlines how they believe the proposals would “make a positive contribution to the local character” and provide housing for Hartlepool in a suitable location.

It said: “The Wynyard Sustainable Settlement has been identified as a major location for significant housing and employment growth within Hartlepool.

“The indicative site layout has demonstrated that a high quality scheme can be delivered on this site which would respond positively to the character of the area.

“The scheme can deliver much needed family homes, whilst creating an attractive and healthy environment to live in, close to nature.”

The site would be accessed via the new Northern Spine Road, and the junction has been designed in accordance with existing residential access along Musgrave Garden Lane.

The plans would provide two off-street car parking spaces for each house, along and cycle parking spaces.

The site currently comprises 12.3 acres of undeveloped land and is just north of a site which Duchy Homes previously gained planning permission for to build 67 new homes on as part of the Wynyard development.

Planning documents also state the proposals would be in line with the wider Wynyard Masterplan, approved by councillors in 2019 to help shape the development of the area.

It comes after in November plans were approved by the council planning committee for a 186 home development at Wynyard Park, estimated to generate £23million and provide more than 100 jobs.

Meanwhile last month councillors backed plans to build 243 new homes at Wynyard Park on 11 hectares of greenfield land to the north of Hartlepool Road, Billingham.

A decision is expected to be made on the latest proposals by the council planning department in the near future.
