Proposals have been submitted to Hartlepool Borough Council planning department from developer Placefirst to provide the bungalows on vacant parcels of land at the end of Rodney Street, near Murray Street.
The proposals represent the ‘final stage’ of Placefirst’s regeneration project at ‘The Green’ in Hartlepool, which has won a series of regional and national property awards, according to the plans.

The project has seen old Victorian terraced houses around Rodney Street, such as in Carr, Hopps and Jobson Streets, off Hart Lane, converted into new two, three and four bedroom properties for rent, along with creation of a communal green.
Now the latest plans will look to provide the 12 bungalows, each featuring two bedrooms, over three parcels of land in Rodney Street, at the junction with Hawkridge Street.
A design and access statement submitted by MPSL Planning and Design, on behalf of the applicant, states the development would benefit the area and provide much needed alternative housing.
It said: “The proposed development is acceptable in design terms, in respect of its access, appearance, layout, scale and landscaping details and constitutes sustainable development, having regard to national and local planning guidance.

“The proposals have undergone an extensive design review, in close collaboration with the client ‘Placefirst’ and the consultants involved to ensure a positive design solution is provided on this site.
“Furthermore, the scheme will fit with the existing regeneration carried out by Placefirst, creating much needed alternative housing for people looking to downsize.”
Proposals also state the properties will help support the council’s strategic housing market assessment and demand for bungalows within the private rented sector.

A decision is expected to be made on the plans by the council planning department in December.
