Plans have been lodged for a new children's play area as part of a growing development on the outskirts of Hartlepool.

Proposals had been submitted to Hartlepool Borough Council planning department to provide an area of open space and children’s play facilities on the site of a former farmhouse in Wynyard.

The site is located to the east of a residential development under construction by Duchy Homes.

The application from Wynyard Park Limited outlines how the land will be transformed to provide a “high quality” children’s play area “incorporating timber equipment and natural play elements to tie in with the character” of the area.

A range of facilities would be provided to cater for different age groups including swings, horizontal bars, a slide, seesaws and a short zipline.

The development would also provide a covered picnic table and an area of public open space surrounding it.

A decision is expected to be made on the proposals by the council planning department in November.
