Three-quarters of Hartlepool voters say they are happy to be leaving EU as Brexit day arrives
We asked how people felt about the fact the leaving process will finally begin today, January 31.
Of the 1,195 people who voted, 25 % – 298 – voted to say they were unhappy, while 897 – 75% – said they were delighted with the move.

Hide AdAmong those to comment on our story was Mick Buttery, who said: “You better believe I am, a massive YES from moi.”
Carol Burton added: “I will be even happier when the end of December comes and we’re out the EU for good.”
Adam Rollinson said: “Pints are in order tommorow,” while Robbie Flannery said: “100%, yes.”

Hide AdHowever, not everyone is agreed it will be a good thing for the country.
Mark Moore said: “Not really. We are, where we are though.
“At least it’ll give the kids of the future something to write about in their history classes I suppose.”
Gav Stephenson added: “I love how Hartlepool a place full of the unemployed and working-class think Brexit will benefit them.
“I cant wait to see Hartlepool suffer the most in the coming years...”
Adam Rollinson replied: “Not sure how we can suffer any more if Hartlepool is full of working-class unemployed people?
