Nick Dixon, from Seaton Carew, was watched by millions of viewers when he appeared on the first two series of the BBC programme and sang in front of star judges like Kylie Minogue and Tom Jones.

Unfortunately, he was not chosen to be taken under one of the judges’ wings, but he received lots of great feedback.

Now two years later, the 19-year-old music student has released his first EP and a separate single.

Nick, who is studying at Leeds Beckett University, said: “I have pushed on with my music and am trying to get myself known.

“It is still my dream to be a successful artist. I am really enjoying being in Leeds as there are lots of opportunities for gigging and am performing quite a lot.”

“The single is about how if you are bored you should always try to be creative and don’t give up on your dreams,” he said.

They are available to download on all the major digital platforms.

Nick has supported other acts at the O2 Academy venues in Newcastle and Leeds and is hoping for a headline gig soon.

He tried again the following year and sang Home Again by Elton John.

Kylie Minogue said she “fell a little bit in love” with determined Nick after he handed the judges his business card.

Nick previously attended Hartlepool Sixth Form College and worked on his music as a tutor at performing arts charity Red Dreams.
