Residents' association base gets a makeover

Kasko House, home of Blackhall Rocks Residents’ Association.

The community building in Marine Crescent needed a revamp, so when the group received paint from the parish council, they approached East Durham Homes customer involvement team to see if they could help.

East Durham Homes’ repairs contractor Morrison Facilities Services offered to carry out some minor alterations to the building.

The group runs activities including a youth club, computer club, coffee mornings and social evenings.

Peter Eldrett, East Durham Homes Customer Involvement Manager, said: “I am really pleased that we were able to help.

“The new look will hopefully attract more people to come along to Kasko House and get involved in their local community.”

Joanne Payne, Treasurer of the association, said: “I would like to thank Morrisons and East Durham Homes for the work they have done.

“The building was dark and dingy before and now it looks bright and airy, it has made a massive difference.”
