Dreamboats and Petticoats The Musical is an out and out winner of a production and it is staying in the Tees Valley for a run at the Forum Theatre which ends on March 18.

It’s packed with hits such as Let’s Dance, To Know Him Is To Love Him, Shaking All Over, and Bobby’s Girl.

It’s a top-tapping, smile-on-your-face type of show which you can’t help but love.

I lost count of the number of songs packed into this show but it was easily over 40. Yet this isn’t just a medley of smash hits.

There’s a storyline too, and lots of great interaction and humour.

It’s a typically romantic tale of a 1961 love story.

Young musicians Norman and Bobby compete to win a national song writing competition – and, more importantly, the attention of the gorgeous Sue.

But when Bobby discovers that shy Laura is no slouch on the piano, love and rock‘n’roll fame beckons.

That’s the background story. The live show is a night of pure musical indulgence in the best way possible.

Take a mix of top quality singing, a brilliant backing band. mean sounds from the saxophone and trumpet and top-notch lighting and what’s not to love?

Leading characters are Bobby (played by Alistair Higgins) Norman (Alastair Hill), Sue (Laura Darton) and Laura (Elizabeth Carter).

Each was superb and Elizabeth Carter’s performance as Laura shone for me.

By the end of the night, the audience was on its feet and dancing the night away to an infectious mix of hits, a talented cast, and an excellently produced show.

If you adore the days of Tell Laura I Love Her, Dream Lover, It’s My Party and Happy Birthday Sweet 16, then this is the show for you.
