Rugby-playing girls celebrate a hat-trick of titles

A school rugby team are celebrating after winning a regional title for the third consecutive year.

Shotton Hall’s talented under-15 girls’ triumphantly won the RFU All Schools Cup regional North East and Cumbria final for the third season in a row.

The girls won every one of their five, 20-minute games in the final of the competition, seeing off Penrith School, Queen Elizabeth High School, Prudhoe Community High School, Dyke House and St Benet Biscop Catholic High School.

The girls’ coach, Mr Clarke, said: “I am extremely proud of all of the girls. They have once again shown that hard work and dedication to training pays off.

“I must admit I didn’t think it would be possible to win for the third year running – but we did it.”

The team now progress to the national finals to represent the north of England.
