Seaton Carew host Hartlepool in first round of Kerridge Cup on Bank Holiday Monday

The town's two cricket clubs clash for the first time this season in a mouth-watering bank holiday cup tie.

Seaton Carew host Hartlepool in the first round of the Kerridge Cup on Monday, starting at 2pm.

The cup tie is a 40 over game so plenty of big hitting and excitement is expected.

With Seaton Carew groundsman, Shane McGary, performing miracles during the recent, showers Hornby Park is looking superb and ready for the game.

A good crowd of local cricket enthusiasts will be eagerly anticipating the derby game.

Seaton Carew will look to improve from last Saturday’s game, where a batting collapse cost them the game against Marske.

Big spending Hartlepool also suffered defeat to Middlesborough only claiming two wickets in 30 overs.

Both teams will want to get their season up and running so a thrilling game is expected at Hornby Park.

This weekend is a busy double header for both clubs, with Seaton away at Great Ayton in the league tomorrow

Stuart Lobb is unavailable for the match at Ayton, but Seaton welcome back Jack Turnbull to bolster the bowling attack to help kick start their season.

Seaton have just benefitted from a new sponsorship deal with town legal firm Smith & Graham who have supplied the team with playing kit and leisure wear.
