Six people taken to hospital and arrests made by police after two-car smash on Hartlepool road

Cleveland Police and the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) were called following the collision between a Ford Escort and a Vauxhall Insignia earlier today, Tuesday, December 1.
Photos from the scene show the wreckage of the Ford in the side of a building on the corner of Hart Lane and Raby Road, having also crashed into a barrier, while the Vauxhall was left with front-end damage.

Hide AdPolice remained on the scene for several hours, with the area closed off as investigations got under way.
The reason for the arrests have not yet been confirmed by the force.
Cleveland Fire Brigade crews from Hartlepool and Billingham were sent to the incident, with one person cut free from one of the vehicles, with the other car made safe.
A spokesperson for the Cleveland Police said: “We would ask people to avoid the area as there may be congestion.

Hide Ad“A convertible red Ford Escort with a number of male occupants collided with a white Vauxhall Insignia at around 8.40am.
"A number of arrests have been made and inquiries are ongoing."
NEAS said it was called to the junction of Hart Lane and Middleton Road at 9.15am and sent six resources to the incident, four double-crewed ambulances, a rapid response paramedic and an officer.
It took five patients to the University Hospital of North Tees and further patient to James Cook University Hospital.
The last crew left the scene at 11.20am.
