Specsavers has the vision to back our awards again

Specsavers, in the Middleton Grange Shopping Centre in Hartlepool, is giving its support to this year’s Child of Courage category.

Store director Ian Walker said: “Since moving to Hartlepool four years ago I’ve been impressed with the strong sense of community that is prevalent throughout the town. It’s with great pleasure that we co-sponsor these awards.

“I know that there are some great heroes out there in the community, and we are proud to help recognise them with this awards ceremony.

“Lots of the heroes we are all well aware of, personally it is the unsung heroes that often inspire me. The way they can give unselfishly day in and day out, let’s help recognise them. The grit and determination of some is unparalleled. Lets ensure we honour the best of these with an award.”

Mr Walker said he was “proud and privileged to support the best of awards, the best of Hartlepool, the best of the country.

“These awards help to recognise the true spirit of Hartlepool. It honours the honest and hardworking folk who toil on a daily basis to achieve and to help others in their daily routine. Often forgotten their work can go unrecognised. Let’s put that right.”

Last year, there were tears of joy,pride and utter admiration as four brave children collected their trophies.

Every guest at the Best of Hartlepool Awards was on their feet at the Hardwick Hall Hotel to applaud the Child of Courage winners – Dylan Davis, Lucy Owens, Jack Stevens and Sonny Wood.

Now, we want to find this year’s heroes and here’s how to do it.

Child of Courage is part of the Best of Hartlepool competition which is being held in association with Niramax, and in which Specsavers are category sponsors.

The deadline for entries is Saturday, April 2.

After that, judges will draw up a shortlist for each of the categories listed below. And then it’s on to the grand finale which will be held this year at the Hardwick Hall Hotel on Tuesday, April 26.
