Spruce-up makes a big difference for hospice families

A family room at a hospice is looking in tip top shape thanks to a big-hearted donation.

Hartlepool power station staff and key contract partner Workplace Solutions have joined forces to help refurbish a family room at Hartlepool and District Hospice.

The site donated £1000 which bought a new sofa bed as well as chairs for one of the hospice’s family rooms.

Workplace Solution staff redecorated the room, while specialists JHH Flooring providing the laminate flooring.

Hospice officials welcomed the refurbishment for the room which is used by patients’ families when they stay over at the hospice,

Doctors also use it when they have consultations.

The power station is a member of Hartlepool & District Hospice’s Guild of Patrons and has had a long partnership with the hospice.

It has also supported a number of projects over the years.

Simon Parsons, the site’s station director, said; “The staff have always been keen supporters of the hospice, and it was great that Workplace Solution and JHH Flooring also supported this project.

“We know what a superb job the hospice does for our community and I am very proud that we can play a part in helping the team there.”

Julie Hildreth, who is the senior fundraising manager at Hartlepool & District Hospice, said: “On behalf of the Hospice, I would like to say a huge thank you to EDF Energy, Workplace Solutions and JHH for their kindness.

“To be able to offer our patients and their visitors a nice environment is very important to us.”

“So for EDF and their partners to support the upkeep of this is a massive help, ensuring that we have comfortable and homely areas in which people can relax.

“This also represents a very substantial saving for us as refurbishment of our premises can be costly and we are very fortunate to receive great support from the businesses such as these in doing this.”

The hospice offers specialist palliative care to hundreds of adults who can be living with a variety of illnesses including Cancer, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder, Motor Neurone Disease, end stage heart disease and

Parkinson’s.
