Students gain valuable experience

Business and IT students from East Durham College have spent the week getting a taste for the world of work whilst taking up a number of exciting work experience places with Accenture.

Fourteen students from the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy course and IT courses spent time at the company’s Newcastle offices, taking part in skills and employability workshops, along with learning about the numerous job roles at the Fortune 100 company.

Accenture is a leading global professional services company, providing a broad range of services and solutions in strategy, consulting, digital, technology and operations.

East Durham College, Programme Area Leader for Business and IT, Jill Tones, thanked Accenture for giving the students the opportunity and believes it was a great experience for them.

She said: “This has been a real insight into the world of work for the students from business and IT courses.

“They have had a fantastic opportunity to work with leading industry experts and learn about some of the job roles available to them in a future career in business and IT.

“I can’t thank Accenture enough for letting these student come in and be a part of this fantastic working environment for the week.

The East Durham College Peterlee Campus is holding a ‘Come to College’ evening on Wednesday, June 8, between 5pm and 7pm.
