Delighted organisers at the Hartlepool Special Needs Support Group hailed the success of their first ever sponsored Superhero Stroll. More than 40 people took part and they raised between £400 and £600 so far.

Organiser Jamie Allison, from the HSNSG core fundraising group, said: “Certainly we are hoping to do this event on an annual basis.”

He estimated that between £400 and £600 had been raised but Jamie said the final total might not be known for a couple of weeks.

The stroll involved walkers dressing as superheroes. Everyone from Batman to Superman took part to raise money for the Hartlepool Special Needs Support Group.

And the officials who organised it all said they were immensely proud of everyone who tackled the one kilometre walk.

Everyone who took part got a medal and certificate.

The support group has its own resource centre in Park Road. The activities it runs includes a Children’s Fun Club, youth club, The Get Together Club, the drama arm of the support group Constellation, and The Friends Fun Club.
