Teenager charged with GBH following a fight at Hartlepool's Middleton Grange Shopping Centre

An 18-year-old man has been charged with grievous bodily harm after he was arrested by police called to a fight which broke out at the Middleton Grange Shopping Centre.

Brandon Crompton, 18, was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Teesside Magistrates Court on Monday, March 23, after being charged with GBH.

A 24-year-old man was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees with non life-threatening injuries following the fight.

He received treatment and has since been discharged.

Cleveland Police were initially called by a CCTV operator’s report that a fight had broken out at the shopping centre.

A spokeswoman for the force said: “Inquiries are on-going and we ask anyone who was in the area at around 12.20pm yesterday afternoon and who may have seen a number of men running up the ramp leading to the shopping centre to come forward.

“Please contact Cleveland Police via the 101 number, quoting Event 45535.

Witnesses have reported seeing a number of police cars and ambulances in York Road.

A North East Ambulance Services spokeswoman said: “We were called at 12.24pm this afternoon to reports of an injured person in York Road in Hartlepool.

“We dispatched a double-crewed ambulance and a specialist paramedic.

“One person was taken to hospital.”
