Crews from the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS), along with County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Sevice (CCDFRS) and Durham Constabulary were called to the Garden of Eden Footbridge shortly after midnight on Thursday, May 27.
Once located, paramedics took the patient to Sunderland Royal Hospital with chest injuries.
A spokesperson for the NEAS said: “We were called on Thursday, May 27 at 00:41am to reports of a teenager who had fallen down an embankment at the Garden of Eden Footbridge.
"We sent one ambulance along with our hazardous area response team and the What3words app was used to locate the patient.
"The police and fire service also attended and we took one patient to Sunderland Royal Hospital with chest injuries.”
