The Future's Bright: Search on to find Hartlepool's best young people

The search is on to find the best of Hartlepool's young citizens.

Residents, organisations, firms and parents are invited to nominate young people in the town for the annual The Future’s Bright, The Future’s Young People Awards’.

Organised by Hartlepool Youth Council and supported by Hartlepool Borough Council’s Standards, Engagement and Development Team, the accolades recognise the outstanding achievements of people aged seven to 19 and those aged seven to 25 who have additional needs.

The categories are: Courage; Young Person’s Champion; Back on Track; Entertainment; Fundraising; Outstanding Contribution to Youth Work; Academic Achievement; Sporting Success; Volunteering in the Community; Project of the Year.

The closing date for receipt of nominations is Monday, February 22.

Entries will be judged by a panel including members of the Youth Parliament, and the awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, April 1, in the Borough Hall on the Headland.

Hartlepool Youth Parliament member Lauren Howells said: “We have some exceptional young people in Hartlepool who are bringing great credit to their town in all sorts of ways. These awards are the opportunity to recognise them and their achievements.”

Councillor Chris Simmons, chairman of Hartlepool Council’s Children’s Services Policy Committee, added: “I very much hope people will support these awards by making nominations so that we can recognise these unsung heroes.”
