Three arrested after police car chase ends in crash

Cleveland Police have made three arrests after a car made off from officers before causing a three-vehicle collision in a Billingham street.

Emergency services were called to a three-vehicle collision on Teesdale Avenue in Billingham shortly after 8pm on Wednesday, December 23.

Officers have said a Range Rover made off from police before crashing into another vehicle and then hitting a house.

North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) confirmed that one person was taken to North Tees hospital with injuries following the crash.

Police have arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of falling to stop, drink driving, drug driving and dangerous driving.

A 24-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly and a 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving without a licence.

Officers have confirmed that all three remain in police custody at this time.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: “A red Range Rover Sport made off from police at around 8:05pm last night near to Wolviston roundabout.

"The vehicle went onto Teesdale Avenue where it collided with another vehicle and then hit a house.

"Three people have been arrested. A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of failure to stop, drink driving, drug driving and dangerous driving.

“A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving without a licence.

"A 24-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly. They all remain in police custody."

"We dispatched two double-crewed ambulances, two hazardous area response vehicles and a clinical care manager.

"One patient was transported to North Tees hospital.”
