A respected sports physiotherapist and much-loved dad, grandad and great-grandad has been fondly remembered at his funeral.

Tommy Johnson's funeral took place on Friday.

Many turned out to pay tribute to Tommy Johnson, who died on December 9, at the service at All Saints Church, Stranton. The former footballer signed for Boro when he was 18, and also played for Darlington and Bradford Park Avenue, before playing in the lower leagues. As a physio, he worked at Hartlepool United before a return to Middlesbrough. Here are some pictures as family, friends and colleagues paid their respects.

Tommy was 92 when he died on December 9.

The service was held at All Saints Church, Stranton.
After working at Hartlepool United, Tommy moved on to be a physio at Boro for 11 years, until his retirement.
A moving eulogy was given by Tommy's grandson Andrew Johnson.
"Our hearts will be empty without him and we will always, always miss him."
Tommy was devoted to the love of his life Eveyln. The couple married in 1949 and had one child.
Tommy is remembered as a true gentleman, who would help anyone.
Speaking of Tommy, his family said: "He loved his family and was extremely close to his grandchildren and great grandchildren."
