Tony Pulis reveals star striker wants to leave Middlesbrough ahead of Friday's deadline

The Danish international, 27, has attracted interest from Spain in the last few days, with Girona and Leganes both interested in the striker.

And in this morning's press conference, Pulis revealed that the player is keen to move on.

“Martin came to see me yesterday. There’s a team in Spain that are interested and he would like to go to Spain," said Pulis.

"We will see how that develops in the next 24 hours. That’s a bit of a disappointment but that’s football.

"And as I’ve said before I just want people who want to be here.”

The news will come as a big blow to Boro fans, who have watched their side win four of their opening five Championship fixtures.

Braithwaite, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Bordeaux, has played a big part in that, starting all five fixtures and scoring three goals.

Pulis admitted after Tuesday's Carabao Cup victory over Rochdale that he expected a busy few days, with the loan transfer window set to shut at 5pm tomorrow.

Boro are still searching for at least another winger following Adama Traore's departure earlier this month.

"We're close to a couple, a few might go out," added Pulis, ahead of tomorrow night's top of the table clash with Leeds.

"We'll have to see what it's like in the next 24 hours.

"We're looking at wide players with pace who can stretch the game."
