One lane of southbound A19 closed after accident at Tees Viaduct
Lane one of the A19 southbound carriageway is shut after a 20-tonne steel structure on the back of a HGV struck the Tees Viaduct, and the closure is expected to remain in place the case during peak traffic hours .
The closure is in place so engineers can assess any damage after one of the bridge beams was struck.

Hide AdThe local authority has also closed the northern section of the roundabout, known locally as Portrack roundabout, which is at the A19 and A1046 Haverton Hill Road.
The southbound carriageway will be closed tonight to alter the road markings to put in narrow lanes and add a temporary protection barrier. There will also be a 50mph speed limit for the affected section of the viaduct as a safety measure.
