Two taken to hospital after collision between Hartlepool bus and cyclist

A cyclist has been taken to hospital following a collision with a bus in Hartlepool.

Another person, believed to be a passenger, was also taken to hospital although neither is believed to have life-threatening injuries.

The incident happened at around 10.15am in Middleton Road on Friday, September 18.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: “Police were called to a collision on Middleton Road involving a Stagecoach bus and a female cyclist just before 10.15am today.

"A passenger from the bus tended to the cyclist until ambulance service colleagues arrived. The lady was then taken to the Urgent Care Centre by traffic officers.”

A spokeswoman for the North East Ambulance Service said the second person was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton, for treatment.

One of the casualties is believed to have suffered a shoulder injury.

A Stagecoach North East spokesman said: "Our immediate concerns are for the well-being of those involved. We are assisting police with their inquiries into the circumstances of the incident."
