A Valentine’s Dance is being planned at Holy Trinity Church Hall, in West View, on Friday, February 19.

It’s a chance to enjoy pie and peas while watching students from the JLM Dance School in Hartlepool perform.

JLM is run by its founder Jemma Mudd and is now based at the church hall, which is in Davison Drive, Hartlepool.

Jemma described how students would be performing the dance routines that they will be using in competitions as well as exams this year.

And once people have completed their meals, and watched the JLM students, they will get the chance to take to the dance floor themselves.

Jemma said people who get involved will get the opportunity to learn ballroom and Latin dances.

Tickets are £6 and they are available from JLM Dance.

Jemma said the event was a great chance for people to go over basic steps and have fun, whether they were a beginner or a more advanced dancer. Next on the agenda for the school is a Mother’s Day afternoon tea dance which will be held at the same venue.

It will take place on Sunday, March 6, and starts at 2.30pm.

Hand-made sandwiches, home-made scones with clotted cream, a selection of desserts and “endless amounts of tea” will be available, said Jemma.

JLM students will once again be practising their moves and a beginner’s dance class will be held afterwards, where people can learn a rumba and square tango.

Tickets are £6.50 and are available from JLM on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays. They can also be bought from JLM’s Facebook page at JLMDance or by contacting Jemma on 07772 287829.

Jemma opened the dance school in 2012 after dancing herself from the age of four.

She took part in competitions all over the world including in Paris and decided she wanted to pass on her knowledge.

She began running lessons which turned out to be hugely popular.
