Victories any way they come will do for Pools boss Ronnie Moore as three-game home run looms

Pools play three matches in eight days at Victoria Park, starting with Tuesday night’s visit of Stevenage.

A Pools triple would not save their season but would go a long way to moving the club closer to safety and avoid another Great Escape mission like 12 months ago.

Ronnie Moore’s side take on managerless Stevenage on Tuesday, resurgent Yeovil on Saturday and Notts County (today’s opponents) three days later.

Moore says results are all that matter and will accept “Dog & Duck” displays if that’s what it takes to battle their way towards the lower mid-table.

“We know those three home games are massive, though we’ll be looking to take something from Notts County [today],” explained Moore.

“We were close in our last away game to a victory [a 1-1 draw at Cambridge United] – if we’d got those extra two points, we’d be sitting a lot nicer now.

“I’m not saying it would be a brilliant position, but we’d be looking a bit better than we are now

“Getting the win is important, how you get it is not important.

“It’s a massive 10 days with those three games to come against teams in and around where we are.

“It’s all about the result, isn’t it?

“Some of the games last season were not pretty. I’m not going to try to kid people and say it was like Real Madrid.

“We had to scrap and whatever.

“This season, I think we have a better team, but, at the moment, we have to go and prove it.

“We have to get results and how we get results does not matter at this moment.

“I’d love to play like Barcelona, but if we have to play like the Dog & Duck then we’ll have to play like the Dog & Duck until we get it right.”

Moore has seen the bottom end of League Two become extremely congested in recent weeks, Pools not being helped by a backlog of fixtures – the side has anywhere between two and five games in hand on their rivals.

And the manager insists Pools should relish the sequence of Victoria Park games and believes the team is starting to take shape.

“We’re at home. We should not worry about anyone,” Moore told SportMail.

“Just go and play, if we can do that, we are a million times better than an awful lot of teams at this level.”

Pools went into today’s League Two programme in 22nd place on 24 points, just four above the bottom two of York and Dagenham & Redbridge, though they have two games in hand on the pair.
