Village church raided by thieves

CHURCHGOERS have been left reeling after a burglary at their place of worship.

Peterlee Neighbourhood Policing Team are appealing for information after a raid at Blackhall Methodist Church, based in the village’s Middle Street.

A safe and some money were taken during the incident.

A spokesman for Peterlee Police said: “A burglary occurred overnight between Monday, August 11 and Tuesday, August 12 at Blackhall Methodist Church, in Middle Street.

“A safe and a small quantity of cash were taken from the premises and damage caused to the interior of the building.”
