Hartlepool's most famous taxi driver has sent a music video SOS to new Pools boss Craig Hignett.

The 46-year-old was announced as new Hartlepool manager after the departure of Ronnie Moore yesterday afternoon,

Now popular taxi driver Stephen Picton, 43, has recorded a mini musical of support to spur the new boss on, filmed at the wheel of his cab to a medley of pop songs and power ballads.

Stephen has previously raised £50,000 for good causes and stood in the General Election in a bid to become Hartlepool's MP.

"I tell you what, pal, you have got a mountain to climb, I'm telling you," Stephen tells the camera. "We don't have a lot of games left, so you have got to turn this around, sunshine, turn it around.

"You can do this, and if you do this, we will love you."

Hignett's first game will be at Pools' home match against Yeovil on Saturday.

It is the first managerial role for the former Middlesbrough player, who had a spell as Hartlepool assistant manager under Colin Cooper at Victoria Park in 2013-14.

Hartlepool are one place above the relegation zone having lost three of their past four league matches.
