We asked you if you remembered the days when teenagers got their own chance to meet up and enjoy a night out at venues such as the Gemini night club in Villers Street.

Nearly 13,000 of you spotted the article and loads of you came up with comments.

It seems you loved to reminisce on the days when 11 to 17-year-olds had their own meeting place courtesy of the Hartlepool Mail initiative which gave youngsters a place to go.

Johny Horsley was one of the people to respond and described the Grapevine days as “great times” while Sharon Simpson said: “The atmosphere was great.”

Grapevine was a popular feature of the Mail in the 1980s and early 90s also included a bulletin board for members to send messages to their friends.

We would love to hear from more of you who took part in the phenomenon that was Grapevine.

What was it that you loved about it?

Was it the cameraderie? The chance to meet up with friends?
