It will be a cold and cloudy start to the day; and the afternoon will be worse, with rain and temperatures down to 3C. It will be warmer when it’s dark than during the afternoon.

What will the weather be like in Hartlepool this morning?

It will be cloudy, but dry until around 11am. The temperature won’t rise above 4C and there will be a fresh breeze.

What about this afternoon?

Rain is expected to fall from around 11am to 5pm and heaviest at about 2pm. Temperatures will be around 4C, but gusts of wind of up to 26mph will make it feel more like -1C at times.

What will the weather be like this evening and tonight in Hartlepool?

Better than the afternoon. The rain will die off at around tea time and it will be cloudy but dry for the rest of the day. The temperature could reach as high as 8C towards midnight and the wind will drop.

A yellow weather warning is in place for Saturday, February 29 due to the wind, with gusts of up to 45mph expected. The evening should see some light rain. The maximum temperature will be 6C.

What is the long-term forecast for the North East?

The Met Office UK outlook for Tuesday, March 3 to Thursday, March 12 said: “Next week looks to stay unsettled with further spells of strong winds and rain, interspersed by sunnier, showery interludes.

“Snow is likely in the north, mainly over higher ground, though there is a chance of seeing snow to lower levels at times.”
