Hartlepool, however, looks set to miss the majority of the icy weather in store for the North East.
It will be a mostly cloudy day with a rainy start – and there is no snow forecast just yet.

"Wintry showers may give a covering of snow in places with up to 10cm over the Pennines.”
The Met Office has advised the public to expect continued disruption to roads and rail routes, with the possibility of longer journey times, as well as further icy patches on untreated roads and pavements.
As the region progresses through the rest of the week, temperatures are expected to improve slightly, with sunny spells forecast and the likelihood of wintry showers reduced.
