After a week of sunny weather and high temperatures, the North East is set for thunderstorms – with Met Office forecasters issuing a yellow weather warning.

Temperatures are expected to remain around the mid-teens so there is a good chance of humidity expected.

Here is your hour-by-hour forecast for Saturday, June 27:

1pm to 4pm: Heavy showers with sunny spells are expected. The temperature will be around 17°C resulting in a high humidity.

4pm to 7pm: Met Office forecasters are predicting thunderstorms to begin at around 4pm and are set to last into the early evening. Temperatures will rise to 18°C.

8pm to 9pm: Thunderstorms are set to pass by 8pm, although heavy showers are still expected, 15°C.

9pm to 10pm: Rain is expected to ease off however the weather will remain overcast, temperatures will be around 14°C.

11pm: Heavy showers are predicted to resume as we head into Sunday, 14°C.

What will the weather be like heading into Sunday, June 28?

12am to 7am: Rain is expected throughout the early hours of the morning, temperatures will be around 12°C.

7am to 9am: An overcast start to the day is predicted by Met Office forecasters, 13°C.

9am to 12pm: Some light showers are expected as we head towards lunch time, temperatures rising to 14°C.

2pm to 4pm: More light showers throughout the afternoon at around 3pm, temperatures of 15°C expected.

4pm to 6pm: Overcast weather throughout as we head into the evening, highs of 15°C.

6pm to 11pm: Temperatures will drop to 13°C throughout the evening as the overcast weather looks set to continue.
