Storm Arwen in Hartlepool: Pictures as treacherous weather hits the North East region

The high winds and damaging gales of Storm Arwen have caused destruction across Hartlepool and the wider North East, with property damaged and events cancelled across the region.

The wild weather led to property damage on the junction of Hart Lane and Raby Road in the town, with emergency services urging people to make essential journeys only as blustery conditions continued.

Met Office forecasters issued a rare Red weather warning on Friday (November 26), with a separate Yellow warning for wind remaining in place on Saturday (November 27) until 6pm.
