Well done forchoosing Alfie

It’s a pity that Hartlepool Borough Council couldn’t do something similar when it came to switching on the town’s Christmas lights.

I’m sure that Alfie will get a better reception than a “globally renowned” soap star that our hard-up council is happy to spend what I suggest is a small fortune of taxpayers’ money on.

But, as we all know, they are good at that.

I guess that a local deserving person wouldn’t generate the publicity that our council leader craves.

I dare say that he and his sidekick will feature in as many photo shoots as the soap star will.

You couldn’t make it up.
