The Finlay Cooper Fund’s annual Dragonfly Ball will be held in the Grand Marquee at Wynyard Hall on June 10, with all profits helping to support children’s causes.

Organisers promise entertainment never previously seen in the North East, with the magic of holograms resulting in some of music history’s most iconic bands and performers appearing live on stage.

Along with a disco, further entertainment will be provided via live music from the Purple Supper Band, recently voted the North East’s party band of the year.

The Finlay Cooper Fund was set up by Colin and his wife Julie in memory of the son they lost in a tragic choking accident shortly before his second birthday in 2002.

Former England defender Cooper, who also played for Middlesbrough, Millwall and Nottingham Forest during a 20-year playing career, said: “We’re delighted to have reached the 10-year mark for the charity and hope the Teesside community will support us at this special event, as they have done so many times.

“All the money goes directly to children who need our help, children’s charities and the local hospices. We set out wanting to do something positive in Fin’s name and, thanks to our brilliant trustees and support from so many people, we’re still doing that 10 years on.”

Tickets are £795 for a table of 10.
