Woman injured after Hartlepool street robbery attempt - do you have any information?

A 29-year-old woman needed medical treatment after a would-be robber tried to steal her phone.

Cleveland Police are appealing for information after the attempted robbery, which took place in Hartlepool's Murray Street.

The incident happened at around 9.45pm on Saturday.

Police have said that the woman was walking along Murray Street in the direction of Victoria Road when she saw three young males running towards her. Two of them ran past her and one of them, who was carrying a yellow scaffolding-type tube, attempted to grab her phone.

When the victim wouldn’t hand over her phone, the male hit the her in the arm with the yellow object, before running off towards Victoria Road.

She received treatment following the incident at the One Life Centre, also in Hartlepool.

The suspect is described as a young male, with a tanned or dark complexion. He was reported as wearing a dark coloured hooded top, which he wore with the hood up.
