Work creates wealth for us

The news about the decision from Tata Steel and its plans for steel-making in Britain are dire.

Although it is hoped to save the plants in a number of ways, I fully expect the closure of its operations and massive job losses.

Simply put, following on from Redcar, Scunthorpe and others, the chances are very slim indeed.

They have not been helped by a government totally disinterested in the industry.

It follows on from a disastrous energy policy brought in by Ed Miliband, and carried on by the coalition and its metro elite view of the steel industry.

Its desire to clean away dirty production with no concern about the resultant job losses.

We have still not addressed the needs of big energy users in this country.

We will be overtaken by countries where jobs trump imagined green issues.

Work creates wealth and all countries need to generate enough wealth to provide the infrastructure and services for its people.

Without it we will diminish and our industries will dwindle.

Subsequently we will all be unable to survive at any decent living standard. The old saying, where there’s muck there’s money, is very apt.

Our metro elite need to realise that and do something about it.
