Yacht towed to shore after breaking down on way to Hartlepool

A yacht had to be towed to safety after running into difficulties while on its way to Hartlepool on Saturday, August 1.

Emergency services, including the RNLI and HM Coastguard, were called to the assistance of the vessel after it encountered mechanical problems off the Northumberland coast.

An Amble Coastguard Coastguard Rescue Team statement said: “Amble Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked just before 6am this morning to assist RNLI - Amble Lifeboat Stations all weather boat with the recovery of a yacht with a suspected fouled propeller.

“The yacht called for assistance from the Coastguard whilst en-route to Hartlepool.

“Amble Lifeboat brought the yacht into Amble Harbour where it was met by members from Amble Coastguard Rescue Team.

“Remember if you see anyone in difficulties at sea or on the coast dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard or whilst at sea contact the Coastguard on VHF channel 16.”
