Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn has, for 30 years, been emphatically opposed to the EU and has a record of speeches in evidence of this.

It now seems that, since becoming Labour leader, he has had a “road to Damascus” conversion.

He now tells us how wonderful the EU is or at least can be.

In his blinkered Socialist vision he sees the EU as a future Marxist Utopia.

Perhaps, though, his wishes are closer to the nightmare direction that the EU is actually headed.

His future vision of the new workers’ paradise appears on the surface as cloud cuckoo land stuff.

But I invite you to rewind to a famous speech by Mikhail Gorbachev, the last General Secretary of the Soviet Communist Party (1985-1991) about 10 years after he left office, after seeing the collapse of Communism, to put Corbyn’s comments in context.

“...the most puzzling development in politics during the past decade is the apparent determination of Western European leaders to recreate the Soviet Union in Western Europe”.

I’ll let you decide how close to the truth Mr Corbyn’s speech of yesterday and Gorbachev’s poignant words of a few years ago are.

Please be wary of what future you really want when you vote on June 23.
