Your chance to vote for dedicated hospital trust staff in annual Shining Stars awards

People are being urged to help reward dedicated medics who go over and above in their work at helping patients treated by Hartlepool's hospital trust.

The Shining Stars annual staff awards are being held to reward staff at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust.

This year the trust will be celebrating their 7th event, which is aimed at rewarding medics who have been nominated by you.

The People’s Choice is a new category in the awards where members of the public have contacted the trust to commend a doctors, nurses or support workers for the exceptional treatment they have provided.

The nominations have been shortlisted to eight and people are being urged to choose their favourite.

Submit your vote to [email protected] or Employee Engagement Team, University Hospital of North Tees, Hardwick Road, Stockton, TS19 8PE by April 1.

Julie was nominated by a member of the public for going that extra mile to provide a fantastic level of care.

The nomination states: “My mum had taken a tumbling fall and was quite shaken. Julie was really quick to calm her, reassuring her whilst she saw to the injuries. I wanted to make sure Julie felt appreciated for her commitment to the patients of North Tees and Hartlepool, and I think this nomination does just that!”

A patient who was recently on the ward couldn’t help but notice just how committed Helen was.

The nomination states: “She’s an amazing member of the team. No job is too big or small. Such a pleasant lady and is so professional. She really does go out of her way with all of the tasks she does. A big thumbs up to her!”

The Pathology Team

A member of the public got in touch to celebrate the work of the Pathology Team with their Pathology Laboratory Tours.

The nomination states: “Thanks to the team for allowing me and my wife to share their fantastic work. I am totally in awe of the professionalism and dedication of all the staff who were only too pleased to share their experiences. A truly wonderful department!”

Mr Rajani Logishetty and team

The Orthopaedic Surgery team have been nominated for their brilliant work in fixing people at all hours of the day – not all heroes wear capes.

The nomination states: “My little baby would like to pass on a massive thank you. We cannot praise his surgeons enough and everyone who played a part in fixing him, they have done such an amazing job!”

The Stockton based team have been recognised for helping a local youngster.

The nomination states: “I wanted to feed-back how amazing all the staff were on the department. The receptionist, the nurse, the x-ray department were all brilliant. My seven year old daughter fell 9ft from a slide and had her injuries checked over. The system is very efficient. Thank you so much for all of your hard work!”

Sue Lennard, EPAC Nurse

A member of the public has put Sue forward for the exceptional care she provided during her time in need.

The nomination states: “Please can you pass on my thanks to Sue at Hartlepool. She has been so supportive and helpful at a very difficult time for me and my family. She truly deserves to be recognised for the amazing work she does, always with a smile and a positive attitude. Thank you!”

The Endoscopy Team

A patient has passed his heartfelt thanks on to the Endoscopy team at the University Hospital of North Tees.

The nomination states: “Thanks to the staff at North Tees I am still on this planet. I would like to say a big thank you to all at Endoscopy – very friendly, professional and efficient. Excellent from start to finish!”

Stephanie Meadley, Rheumatology Nurse

Stephanie has been commended for her commitment to patients, even after they’ve left her ward.

The nomination states: “Stephanie went above and beyond to support my husband. He’s only seen her once but she rings every week to see how he is and has since referred him to an Occupational Therapist – support we didn’t even know was available! He’s never had this kind of care before, the Rheumatology team are fantastic!”
