2. Max Mata
The New Zealander enjoyed a prolific spell for Irish side Sligo Rovers, scoring 20 goals in 46 games, and while he had a far less successful stint at Shrewsbury, finding the net once in 26 outings, the frontman could still be worth a look for Pools. Photo: James Baylis / Salop Photo

3. Mandela Egbo
The defender, who has turned out for the likes of Borussia Monchengladbach, Darmstadt 1998 and New York Red Bulls, has plenty of experience of English football having been on the books of Swindon, Charlton and Colchester, where he featured 82 times before leaving in the summer. 4. Theo Vassell
The centre-back boasts a whole host of Football League experience having played for the likes of Port Vale, Wrexham, Salford, where he made more than 100 appearances, and Barrow. The 28-year-old could well prove a useful addition, especially in light of Reiss McNally's ongoing absence and skipper Tom Parkes' struggles for fitness. Photo: Getty Images : v
