24 former Hartlepool United players who are set to become free agents this summer:
![One of the most popular midfielders in recent memory, Holohan scored 21 goals in 106 Pools appearances and was a regular in the side that won promotion back to the Football League, scoring the first goal on their return to League Two, a late winner on the opening day against Crawley. Fell out of favour under Graeme Lee and was allowed to join Grimsby, where he once again became a fan favourite, making over 100 appearances and scoring a brace, both from the penalty spot, as the Mariners beat Premier League side Southampton to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals. The Irishman is set to leave Lincolnshire this summer and, at 32, will still feel like he has a lot to offer.](https://www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk/webimg/b25lY21zOjEyMjQwNDYwLTFkZGYtNDYwMi1hZmQxLWQwNWQ3MzlkMWFiZTo1NWY2MjY4MS05MGE1LTQxOTItYTY3Zi1kZDk0NmYzNDYxMzY=.jpg?crop=3:2&width=640)

![Didn't make much of an impact after linking up with John Askey for a third time at Pools, having won the National League title under him at Macclesfield and been a regular in York's midfield. Seems to be held in high regard pretty much everywhere he's been and is still fondly remembered at boyhood club Birmingham, where he made a name for himself as an all-action teenager. The last couple of seasons have been more difficult for Hancox, now 30, after falling down the pecking order at York. He scored once in seven appearances for Pools before returning to the Minstermen, where his contract was cancelled to allow him to join Altrincham. He played eight times, although just three of them came from the start, and featured in the play-off semi final but was released by the Robins after his short term deal came to an end.](https://www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk/webimg/b25lY21zOjU5NGIxZmJiLTgyNTgtNDliOC1hYzQ2LTNhYjkxOTcxM2M0OTo2MDYyY2Q3YS02NjU3LTRlNzgtOTExNy0wNTIyMTM5MGM2ZWY=.jpg?crop=3:2&width=640)

![Could well be a player Pools look at this summer. Scored a hat-trick for Sunderland under-21s in the Premier League 2 play-off semi-final just three days after his release by the Black Cats was confirmed and will skipper the side for the final time when they take on Spurs in the final this Sunday. A Hartlepool lad, he had a difficult loan spell with Pools after catching the eye of then manager Paul Hartley in a pre-season friendly, starting the season opener, a 4-0 drubbing at Walsall, but making just three more substitute appearances in the league. The move probably came a bit too soon for Taylor, who arrived with Pools in a state approaching chaos. Now 21 and having impressed in the Sunderland youth ranks, he could be worth another look as new boss Darren Sarll seeks to add width to his arsenal this summer. Certainly get the sense the Sunderland hierarchy agonised about the decision to let him go, having spent more than a decade at the Stadium of Light. returned from an injury setback in recent weeks, with his contract set to expire this summer.](https://www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk/webimg/b25lY21zOmM0MjVkNWRiLTdjZGMtNGEyNi1iZGFmLWU3Y2JiZTM2ZmUzYTo2NThhNDliMy03NDk1LTQ4NWEtYWJkZC1kYmVmODI0NTk2MzY=.jpg?crop=3:2&width=640)
