Belief is high for Former Hearts striker Aidan Keena at Hartlepool United as National League play-off push continues

Aidan Keena feels Hartlepool United’s positive run of form will ‘mean nothing’ if they can’t back it up with a win against Ebbsfleet United this Saturday (3pm kick-off).

Pools have lost just once since New Year’s Day and go into this weekend’s match at Victoria Park having won each of their last four home matches.

Keena came off the bench to snatch a late winner at Solihull Moors on Tuesday evening but wasn’t getting carried away after picking up a big three points on the road.

“A win like we got on Tuesday and the results we’ve been getting lately mean nothing if we can’t keep building on it,” said the Irish forward.

“Losing this weekend is no good to us so we need to keep ourselves focused and get back to work Thursday for another big game on Saturday.

“Winning at Solihull was a statement and a huge three points but we need to keep building on it.”

After jumping into the crowd to celebrate his winner at Damson Park, Keena pondered the prospect of a repeat at The Vic this weekend.

“It would be harder to get out I think but hopefully, I get the chance again on Saturday,” he added.

“We believe, definitely. The way the gaffer sets us up, the way he wants us to play and work hard during the week, we’re all buying into it and looking forward to what could be a great end to the season if all goes well.”
