5. LB: George Friend
Boro's longest serving player, after moving to the Riverside from Doncaster in 2012. Since then Friend has not only impressed on the field but has also been a great ambassador for the club off it. Photo: Richard Sellers
6. CM: Adam Clayton
Now into his sixth season at the club after arriving from Huddersfield in 2014. Clayton started 43 out of 46 league games in the the year that Boro reached the Premier League three years ago. Since then the 30-year-old has won his place back after dropping out of the side. Photo: Nigel Roddis
7. CM: Grant Leadbitter
Signed on a free transfer by Tony Mowbray in 2012, the midfielder spent six and a half years on Teesside. His best spell came under Aitor Karanka, when Leadbitter and Clayton formed an excellent midfield partnership which created the heartbeat of Boro's promotion-winning side. Photo: Stephen Pond
8. LW: Albert Adomah
The winger was a shining light in a struggling Boro side when he first joined the club in 2013. Adomah remained a key player for the Teessiders following the appointment of Karanka in 2013 and made at least 42 league appearances in each of his three seasons on Teesside. Photo: Chris Brunskill
