The defender, who initially signed a one month deal back at the end of September has put pen to paper to extend his stay at Pools, though the exact length of the new deal is yet to be revealed.

Boss Dave Challinor has welcomed the news with Johnson quickly establishing himself as a key member of the side, the former Kidderminster Harries man has so far scored against Chesterfield and Maidenhead.

Reflecting on the new deal, Challinor said: “Ryan has come in and been really impressive.

"He has created a formidable partnership with Timi and it has been very useful to have two quick defenders.

"It has made such a big difference having a naturally left-footed defender playing left centre half and when Ferguson bombs forward, Ryan has looked comfortable covering that space.

"I am delighted we could get this done and over the line”.
