Pools were knocked out of the FA Trophy last week after shipping three late goals to lose 3-2 at Harrogate Town.

Challinor’s side were in command with a 2-0 lead heading into the final stages before conceding three goals in the last 13 minutes to leave the Pools boss fuming.

Pools are back in National League action on Saturday with Dagenham the visitors to Victoria Park for the 3pm KO - with Challinor determined to get a reaction from his squad.

Challinor said: “If I can take anything away from Saturday it's that it has made me more determined to get things right and I hope it has the same impact on the players because we wasted fans' time and money by throwing a game away so badly.

“It may have only been in the Trophy but a game is a game, the bigger picture is the mental scarring where we’ve thrown away a game we’ve been in complete control of purely through individual mistakes and down right shocking defending.

“I expect a reaction on Saturday.”

Challinor’s side led the game 2-0 after 77-minutes before an own goal and two goalkeeper errors by United legend Dimi Konstantopoulos gifted Harrogate the 3-2 win at the CNG Stadium.

It’s the second time in eight matches under their new manager that Pools have surrendered a two goal lead.
