Pools sit fourth in the National League table with two games remaining and will be taking part in the promotion play-offs come June as they look to make a Football League return.

But in order to secure a top three place and a home play-off semi-final, they can’t afford to drop any points in their remaining matches against Sutton United and Weymouth.

Challinor wants his Pools side to finish the league campaign strongly ahead of the play-off games early next month, with the final to be played at Bristol City’s Ashton Gate stadium.

Ahead of the weekend trip to title-chasing Sutton, Challinor said: “We’d spoken about being calm and accepting that the remaining games for us are a lead into potentially two or three other games.

“There might come points in those other games where you have to deal with adversity and hopefully we’ve done that well enough.

"That’s something that may happen in what will be the biggest games for this club in a long time and in the player’s careers.

"You have to move on and you can’t get overly disappointed but you’ve got to keep going and find a way.

"Whether it’s controlling a game, going behind and having to be resilient, whatever it is, you have to consciously try and do the right things to ensure you get three points or wins.

"That’s what’s going to be important.”
