Dave Challinor picked up his first league win as Hartlepool manager against Chesterfield last November – the 5-1 victory was the side’s biggest of the 2019-20 campaign. And Challinor will be hoping for a repeat performance tonight.

“The message to the players is that we’ve got off to a good start and now we’ve got to go and back that up,” said the Hartlepool manager.

“It’s not about doing just enough, it’s about resetting the bar and raising it higher and higher.

"The difficulty for us is that it’s a bit of an unknown as their game was called off on Saturday so is that a good thing for them that they’re rested or is it a good thing for us because we’ve already got a game and a win under our belts.

"One thing is for certain is that we’re going to have to be pretty adaptable and think on our feet in terms of what we come up with.

"Hopefully we’ve got enough quality and enough knowhow to put in a really good performance and replicate what we did there last year, that would be fantastic. But they’ll obviously be highly motivated to make sure that doesn’t happen.”
