Dave Challinor hints at potential new arrivals at Hartlepool United should injury issues mount up with Gary Liddle still out

Dave Challinor says Hartlepool United will be ‘reactive’ when it comes to bringing more players in over the coming weeks.

Pools currently have just four senior defenders available to play following the groin injury to Gary Liddle and Aaron Cunningham joining Blyth Spartans on a season long loan.

While Challinor believes his players’ versatility will help the side out at the back, he hasn’t ruled out further additions at Victoria Park.

"We’ll monitor the situation and if we need to do something between now and then, we can be pretty reactive in terms of bringing bodies in,” he told The Mail.

"But we’ve got the option of playing Cass centre-back, Timi [Odusina] and Ryan [Johnson] can play full-back if needed and Ryan Donaldson can do a job at right-back.

"If we do get a little bit thin on the ground then we’ll look at where we’re at and see if we can get something done.”
