Elliot Durrell’s 55th minute strike was enough to separate the sides at Victoria Park as Pools saw several chances go begging.
Following the match, Pools boss Dave Challinor said: “I’m disappointed with the result but pleased with aspects of our performance.

"We had a long chat after the game where the players spoke about things, there wasn’t enough of it in my opinion but we have to do something about it.
“Wrexham managed the game well after taking the lead but the officials allowed them to do that by doing nothing about it which was really frustrating.
“We’ve got to be better in the final third and have a bit of luck to put our chances away. I want to see more desire from players to put their bodies on the line to get a goal.

"But we’re playing some good stuff and causing problems but we’re not taking them which is obviously still a concern as that’s what changes football matches. There is a pressure on the lads at the top end of the pitch to start taking their chances.”
