5. Chris Riggott

6. Malcolm Christie

7. Fabrizio Ravanelli
A crowd favourite during his one season with Boro. Despite the club's relegation from the top-flight in 1997, Ravanelli scored an impressive 31 goals in all competitions and helped Boro reach the League Cup final. The forward later joined Derby in 2001. Photo: Shaun Botterill
8. Mikkel Beck
The striker helped Boro win promotion straight back to the Premier League in 1998, scoring 15 goals that campaign. He moved to Derby after three years with Boro but couldn't rediscover his goalscoring form. Photo: Shaun Botterill
